Evan grew up on two different continents and in three different countries dividing his childhood between Singapore, New Jersey, Texas, and Toronto. After completing high school in Toronto, he return to Singapore to complete his mandatory national service in the Singapore armed forces. Instead of becoming a soldier he moved into logistics ordering every from anniversary watches, medals, and uniforms for two years.
When he returned to Toronto, he studied at Humber College receiving two diplomas in business management and marketing. While at Humber, he also moved in to a role as the lead coordinator of the campus Gaming Club, where he organized weekly events for fifty members and was the liaison with the student council. It was a great way to learn about leadership in a community.
Evan’s roots in the Anglican Church trace back to his mom, who is an ordained Anglican priest in the Diocese of Toronto. He performed his obligatory duties as a Wiseman at the children’s pageant in Quakertown, NJ and more recently, was hanging out with the children of Grace Church on the Hill in Toronto.
Being a dual national, he has experience in seeing how the church in Toronto and the church in Singapore are significantly different. In Singapore, he attended a church with 500 people at a service, that had multiple services. In Toronto, he notes that church is more tight knit, making it easier to welcome new comers. He also appreciates the classic church look of the buildings.
At Church of the Transfiguration he is excited to be working in the Office during the week, helping keep our administration organized and help parishioners out with their requests.
When he is not at Transfig, you’ll likely find him enjoying himself hanging with friends, treating himself to the wide variety of food options in his neighbourhood.
